Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi considering another week after Easter and wondered what the skiing is like that time in April. Looking at chalets in Vale Claret. Are we likely to be able to ski all day and back to resort or will the lower runs be too slushy? Feedback greatly appreciated.

with the way the base is building then I'd say you have ever chance of fantastic conditions then.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Since 2007, we've stayed in Val Claret in the last week of April of first week of May every year except last year:
- Always skiable back to Val C (2100m) - though soft snow in the afternoon on south facing runs.
- Always skiable back to Val D'Isere (1800m) - mostly on wide cover but occasionally on narrow runs.
- Sometimes skiable (over half the time)to Tignes Les Brevieres at 1500m. Hard snow on a morning; ankle deep slush by afternoons.
Yes to skiing all day - you can expect winter snow on North facing runs at altitude. The glaciers at Tignes and Le Fornet will be superb.
Yes to over 50% of Espace Killy being open.
Yes to a fantastic time and being a convert to late season skiing.
And you can't rule out powder in April - especially at altitude, although we have skied powder at Val Claret resort level a couple of times in late May.
