Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Cervinia - apartments

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi all,

Been skiing many years and totally love this resort. I am planning a trip for 6 in 2017 and ideally would like an apartment. There will be a mix of abilities, with those of us who ski to the last lift and those who will be shattered after ski school. Ideally I want an apartment really close to the center, so not much further than a ten minute walk. Does anybody have a recommendations. I have been to this resort about 8 times so know it well. If you could give walk times to land marks, e.g. Leno's Bar, Copa Pan or Cretaz that would be great.

I have found a few myself, but they either look like dumps or are no cheaper than booking a hotel through and agent.

Tips please.

@cervinia888, not sure if it is the case in Cervinia, but in other Italian resorts it is fairly common to have apartments owned by the hotels. The tourist offices are also a good place to start, but it may be a bit early for them to have prices available.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I've not been there recently but was talking with one of the accommodation owners last visit and they explained to me that either through local or more extensive regulations that the price per bed / room was "not fixed but priced" within a banding system based on various criteria to give a fairly priced offer to clients.

Are you going at a peak time like half term? I've always found hotels don't put up their prices that much at peak times whereas apartment owners seem to charge a hefty premium. I think this might just be case of there being a smaller number of apartments and when the demand exceeds supply the price jumps accordingly.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thanks for your replies. I will defo not be going in half term. Probably the first or last weeks in February. Was thinking about asking Lino. He seems to have his fingers, thumbs and toes in many of the Cervinia pies. Those who frequent Cervinia will know what I mean. Remember when he just had that tiny shack near the ice rink. How things have changed.

Will have a look at the tourist office.

Thanks again.

Yes I found there's not a plethora of attractive apartments to stay in & the ones that looked aesthetically nicer were in Cielo Alto & therefore total hike.
Have you looked at Immobiliare La Tour & Immobiliare Monte Cervino?
We used La Tour (lovely, helpful staff btw), stayed in Theodule condo beside Ventina piste, about 100m from Gondola, you could ski to the door of the apartment from the Ventina through the trees at the end of the day. Did the job!

As already mentioned, the Tourist Office are a good option, they sorted me out with a great apartment in the centre of town a few years ago. I arranged it the old fashioned way, by telephone!

I think it's fair to say that many Italian businesses have not fully embraced the internet.... wink

If you have a big enough budget, this place is amazing and is about 40 metres from the Cretaz lift:
https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/5221258

But it is 6 bedrooms, so probably too big. If you are interested, send me a PM and I'll introduce you to the owner, so you can save on Air BnB booking fees. (My only link to her is that I stayed there recently.)

Just as well located, but less flash and a lot cheaper is:

Another question, does anybody know any good two person apartments? Possibly planning a sneaky last minute trip.
