Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

@radar, DIY to Saalbach is very easy.

Ryanair, Easyjet, Jet2, BA or a charter to Salzburg. Holiday Shuttle direct to your accommodation. The link in the previous post will bring up available accommodation. Pick a couple of possible hotels or pensions and ask on here for opinions re location and quality. Best independent chalet is Pension Enzian. There are snowheads who have/know of private apartments in Saalbach.

@radar, Fellow snowheads have enthused about the Hotel Koenig (which is directly behind our apartments, at the bottom of the small Kreuzkappelle nursery slope - so ski-in ski-out). It offers HB and the food is reportedly good, although many people prefer B&B or SC and to eat out in the village. See the Saalbach general thread for tons of info, including re village restaurants, which are plentiful and reasonably-priced.

its a while since we booked for beg march but at the time it was considerably cheaper to diy rather than t/o in one of the plush hotels right in the centre but since then weve added an extra few days s/c with family and just had a look and there is availability around and about

Have been to the Hotel Post twice now and can thoroughly recommend it if you want a degree of luxury at a sensible price. See TripAdvisor for me review.

@radar, We stayed at the Koenig 2 years ago and it was good value. Nice size rooms and decent food. You can pretty much ski back to the hotel (skis off to cross the road by the Bauer!). We had a DIY holiday and flew to Salzburg with Easy Jet, then mini bus transfer (with a Saalbach company), booked Koenig directly, ski school and equipment for children directly and lift passes. The cost was much cheaper than the tour operators, although we booked around 6-7 months in advance.

+1 for Pension Enzian. Stayed there 6th Feb for a week. Great place.

Looking to book up for half term next year, but didn't sound hopeful, as there is a lot of repeat customers who come back at half term. If Kevin doesn't have anything will look into the Koenig. One of our party broke his collar bone this trip, so hopefully will have better luck next year!

@radar, I would stay in any of the hotels as they are all good but the post ,saalbacherhof, sonnleitin, are all first class our personal favorite is the eva village 4 years, but late bookings tend to have only the more expensive rooms and suites available which pushes the price above what you really need as most of the time in the hotel you are going to be asleep or eating, ive never heard of any of our friends being disapointed with the accom in saalbach whatever budget or grade
