Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

MTN LAB Boots and DIN Bindings

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I think I know the answer to this, but I see the Salomon MTN LAB boots are compatible with tech bindings, some frame bindings and some alpine bindings like the Salomon Warden.

If it's okay with a Warden, is that because it has a sliding plate AFD? In that case would they work with any sliding plate AFD like this one?

Thanks

@Mosha Marc, The reason the Warden is compatible with Alpine DIN, Tech and WTR boots, is not the ADF plate, it is the height adjustable toe piece.

Most boots with tech fittings have a sole with a pronounced rocker, which raises the height of the toe piece, so unless the binding has a large height adjustment range you may not get a guaranteed release value.

Having said that, I have seen many people ski with touring boots in alpine bindings.

@Mosha Marc, do you need them to work specifically with that binding? Just asking as there will be a lot more alpine bindings that work with touring soles next season - I believe almost everything from Marker Royal Family series, amongst others.

@clarky999, yeah, those bindings are on my little skis. As you can see it's a rail system so I'm stuck with it, unless I replace it with a plate and mount bindings onto that.

@Mosha Marc, I use MTN Lab Explorers with Dynafit* and Diamir Vipec - and new for this season on my Scott 110 Cascades mounted with Scott Guardians, and they worked.

However yesterday I skied the Cascades using my old Black Diamond Factors and that was a much much better setup. The MTN Lab Explorers are geared to going up whilst the Cascade set up is geared to going down and the grunt that the Factors gave were so much better!

*new from tomorrow old TLts replaced with new ST 2.0s Cool
