Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi - I'm heading to Samoens at the end of the month and was wondering what après recommendations people may have for the area? I'm part of a group of friends (30's - very early 40's) that like an occasional après party. Are there any good spots in Samoens or in the local villages that you can get a bus back from? Also, can anyone recommend good restaurants in the town or on the slopes? Thanks! (I posted this in the après thread earlier but it was suggested I re-post here - ta!)

Hi
If you fancy pizza, then try Le Serac. For tartiflette etc, then Septimontain is usually good and a lot of people say they like La Table de Fifinne, but it's not cheap! Loads of other good - looking restaurants in the town. L'Igloo, at the top of Bergin in Morillon gets good reports, but I haven't tried it. The Irish bar in Samoens is busy at night and does a quiz night (in English) once a week. Other bars are more low key, but all we have visited have been good. Enjoy!

As @hj5, says there are quite a few places in Samoens town itself and it's a good atmosphere to wander around there in the evening to find which you like. Fifine is a bit more of a walk out of the town probably about 20mins.
To add to the mountain recommendations, (l'igloo always good) Le Beu about 50mtrs up from the bottom of Sairon chair in Morillon 1100 is a small family run restaurant which is our favourite, not very large though so if you want lunch for a group best to get there slightly early it's worth it.
This one I always forget the name of but it's at the bottom of Molliets lift on the right hand side just before the piste goes under the bridge to the chairlift, but also good.
Bit of a theme this (can't remember the name of another one) as you come back down from the top of Samoens Tete des Saix on the red piste Marmotte, just as you reach the first of the buildings of Samoens 1600 there is a restaurant facing you which is again very good.
It's a really nice area, hope you have a good trip there.

It is a lovely area and village, but there is no "apres", however if you are part of a crowd then you can make your own apres.
