Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Tyrolia Freeflex plus bindings

Poster: A snowHead
I've recently acquired a pair of Head skis with these bindings. I am a nervous intermediate but the friend who has passed these on to me is a very good skier. I have of course adjusted the DIN to my normal setting of 4.5 - she had it at about 6.5, and since she's no heavier than I am, I assume this is indicative of her superior skiing level. However, should I have the metal spring thing open or shut (it's adjusted by a screw that you can turn through 180 degrees)? Also, looking on the Tyrolia website, they talk about boot centre adjustment, which can be at +15mm for those who like to ski at moderate speed, 0 for your averagely competent skier, and -15mm for good skiers. Is this relevant to the Freeflx plus binding and is it easy to adjust?

If your having to ask these questions then you really shouldn't be playing with these bindings your self. I don't mean that in a bad way but with bindings esp ones as finicky with forward pressure as Tyrolias I cannot stress that you take these to a proper ski tech enough.

Yes, think you are right!

BTW, l would not dream of touching the bindings myself, although my husband - who is very competent at that sort of thing - would. His feeling is, though, that at my level of skiing, I am unlikely to notice any significant difference from small adjustments in the bindings. My feeling is that I would like the skis set up specifically for me, and even if that only helps me psychologically, it's worth it. Do you think that the sort of adjustments I am talking about would be noticeable to anyone other than an good skier?
