Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Madonna or La Thuile in March for best snow

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi
Looking for some advice - we are going to Italy in March (12th) and planning Madonna with adults and kids. Some of the kids are beginners and the adults intermediate with one who likes to x country ski. I am concerned about the snow in Madonna (and I know anything could happen snow wise between this and then). The base in Madonna is low and if they don't get lots of snow in Feb the Nursery and low down slopes could be pretty bad for the beginners . Switching to La Thuile is an option albeit a longer drives from the airport - we are flying to Bergamo the other family to Verona- but it might be worth it as the snow base seems a lot better there.
Any advice? Will probably post on the Resort forum as well
@Noza - any change for the outlook for snow in the Dolomites , its seems to be mentioned a bit more.

Hi i went to La Thuile last year In March with the family, the snow conditions were pretty good for the time of year. the lower slopes were thin on snow and it got real slushy towards the end of the day, but if you could get up high the snow was good and there was even a few good freeride lines, however if you are thinking of going to La Thuile even in March the wind is bitterly cold and and strong enough to close some of the lifts so always wrap up warm. snowHead

@Simone, All I can tell you is that when we went to MdC in March a couple of years back we had nearly a metre of fresh snow during the week. I certainly wouldn't be panicking yet if I were you.
