Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Which bindings and brake width?

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi All,

I have a shiny new set of Atomic Vantage Alibis (98mm) for which I need bindings.

I have 2 options:
1) I have a set of Tyrolia Peak 12s on an old set of skis (which would require a new, wider brake) that I could transfer.
2) New bindings. I've been looking at the Look Pivot / Rossi FKS bindings (believe they are the same thing) as they look great and I've read good things about them.

I'm around 80kg (give or take. I'm really trying to give it away at the moment Smile ) - would I see any benefit in getting a 'better' binding than the current Tyrolia or should I just swap them?

Thanks in advance,

Mat

Go for option 2, best bindings there are. I've just bought a new pair of them from Ekosport, they were €145 with a 130mm brake, probably be cheaper with smaller brake size. Enjoy.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Am I correct in thinking that for a 98mm ski I'd need the 115mm brake width version?

Yep, Look pivot 12 on ekosport is at €115 at the moment, not too sure about price in sterling as I'm in france so it automatically defaults to euro, http://www.ekosport.fr/look-pivot-12-b115-blue-green-15-p-9-2228.html?CatalogID=N2&CategoryName=N2004

Better with the 95mm brake on a 98mm ski. It just needs a very little bend and then fits nice and snugly. I put the 115mm brake on a 98mm ski initially and found they rubbed when carving hard.

@snowrider, thanks for the advice. I did wonder about that issue.
