Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Bindings advice for Scott skis

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Just purchased new skis for myself and my wife and I am looking for bindings advice.
Frankly this is the first time that I purchase skis w/o mounted bindings and I have little knowledge about bindings.
The Skis are Scott Black Majic in 184cm and Scott Luna 166cm.
We ski 80% piste and frontside powder. We do not intend to do any freeriding or touring.
Myself is a bit above 13 stones, while my wife is above 9 stones.
We are both intermediates.
We want to avoid bindings that you can not adjust for different skishoe lenght without a screwdriver (I know that some Marker bindings are like this).
Simple lever adjustment would be preferred.
What do we have to know/consider?
Are there any preferred bindings for these skis?
Many thanks.

Flat mounted alpine bindings have fixed toes and some length adjustment in the heel to adjust for slight changes in boot sole length.

If you want the bindings to fit a wide range of boot lengths (& I can't see why you would) then you need to mount a demo style binding which adds weight & height - in which case it would have been easier/cheaper for you to by skis with a rail system in the first place.

The lightest/lowest demo binding is the Marker Squire Demo followed by the Vist Quicklock and the Marker Griffon Demo.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I have two ski shoes and they are different sizes (one MP29.5 Technica, another MP30 Full Tilts, shells are 340mm and 355mm if I remember correctly), although subjectively they fit almost the same.
Thus I need adjustment. Also, since all the skis except one, that I had so far had adjustable bindings, I believe adjustability contributes to resale value?
I am looking at Marker Squire bindings and I just want to make sure that they will be adjustable at least to the different shoes that I have.
Also, are Squires overall ok for piste? On Marker's own website they give 0/5 Piste rating for Squires (http://marker.net/products/bindings/squire-11.html).
Black Majic is 80mm underfoot, but Lunas are 85mm underfoot - are 90mm stoppers ok for both of them?
What are advantages of stepping up to Squire Shizo bindings?
As an alternative for myself I found Scott NS 14 bindings (they look very similar to Salomon Z ?) for a very good price. Are there any advantages/disadvantages over Marker's?
Sorry for many questions Smile
