Hi,
normally I do the red eye all night drive for the early flight from Gatwick. I'm sure I've seen on here (searched but couldn't find) that there are budget hotels which offer a room with 7 days parking. Any pointers? Thanks, J

Search on www.holidayextras.co.uk That's how I've found them in the past. The Holiday Inn usually do a pretty good deal. Watch out what the arrangements are for parking. With some deals you stay in the hotel then have to go and park your car in an off airport carpark in the morning, which loses some of the advantage.

I've just booked the Holiday Inn for £69 including 8 days parking. I've used it before and very convenient and easy parking.

The Cambridge is perfectly adequate and I have used many times and the ?Days Inn opposite is OK as well. Not exciting but to put the head down fine. I think the Cambridge park on site on a secure compound. Usually find them through holiday extras or one of the other search sites

I've used bloc hotel 3 times and found it very good, rooms are small but modern and comfortable. It's in the terminal so you can walk straight out to check in in the morning. Book a room with valet parking and you can drop car off in short stay car park right next to the terminal. It's not budget but worth every penny for the convenience and no faff getting a bus to the car park when you just want to go home!

Just booked the premier inn at LGW for £49 and then on airport parking for a week for £35. What's not to like

make sure you book the 'drop-off' option which gets you your car brought to you at the airport arrivals area, otherwise it can be a nightmare getting back to the hotel, especially if its raining

You know it makes sense.

another vote for the premier inn, we have regularly used the north terminal one inc valet parking next door

I've used the Acorn Lodge http://www.acornlodgegatwick.co.uk/ a few times.
Dead easy to get to and a 10-minute transfer to the terminal.
It's linked to the Cambridge mentioned above but is quite a bit closer to the terminals

Is that the official airport secure parking, and the £35 is a discount for booking with Premier Inn?
What about others mentioned here, are they secure parking or just the hotel car park?
Edit: ah, I see on holidayextras it lists which hotel has what parking. Ibis with Purple Parking seems cheap and I've used Purple a few times. Ibis any good?

Premier Inn do park and fly packages for many airports. For some of them the price is only slightly more than the price of parking alone.
Just check the shuttle bus/drop off arrangements. We once had a horrible stay at a major chain hotel just off the perimeter of Stansted. The bus was several pounds for each adult and not included in the price. Why would you stay there if not flying from the airport. Then on the way back we found the bus only ran once an hour in the evening.

The trouble with some of the deals, and I think the Ibis with Purple Parking looks like one of these, is that you drive to the hotel and park you car there overnight whilst you stay there, then have to drive it to the included parking the next morning and get the transfer bus from there. If your flight is early, that's a lot of extra faffing. Some of the others, like the Holiday Inn, you leave the car in their secure carpark and don't have to mess around moving it in the morning.

The one I've booked at Heathrow is where they park it for you off site. So drive to Premier Inn on perimeter stay overnight. Next morning drive to the short stay, hand over car keys and walk to terminal. As my car is so old and battered I'm not bothered about someone else parking it! On return its there at the short stay waiting

Over the past few years have stayed at The Premier Inn directly opposite the North Terminal, booked our car parking with Tudor Rose. Never had any issues with them -have always provided a good service. They pick the car up and drop it back to you.
