Poster: A snowHead
|
I'm going snowboarding in les arcs in february and fly into geneva airport. I've spent ages looking for transfer to arc 1800and they all seem so expensive (£400+ for 4 people.) Is this normal? Or does anyone know a cheaper company? Is it worth booking before or shall i just hope there are people at the airport offering the fare cheaper?
If anyone could help that would be great - this seems like a helpful place! Thanks!

claireybella, Welcome! With four of you you'd save heaps by hiring a car, it's a fairly easy drive.

Hello there.
I am in the same boat as you. If you have three people then it is cheapest to hire a car. Then the specialised transer services (£400 for up to 8 people was the best price I saw)
Lastly - the bus service does it for about £75 return. Here is the website http://www.alpski-bus.com/
If anyone hs a better idea, I would like to hear it too

Welcome to snowHeads, claireybella
I'm planning on using Alpine Transfer Service (www.a-t-s.net) for Lyon to Geneva, of the people offering on line prices they seemed the most reasonable. They offer private or shared transfers...

claireybella, welcome to snowHeads!
As ise suggests, Aarthur is very good. A personal friend, very reliable. Unless you're travelling on a Sunday (slightly more expensive on their tariff) a Geneva - Arc 1800 transfer for 4 people costs 260 euros, less than half the price you've been quoted... (unless you meant a return trip).
Just to make it clear, neither ise, myself nor MySnowSports make a centime from any business he gets from our recommendations.

Just done the trip myself (+ wife and mates). We rented a car (Peugeot 307) for £145 plus winter pack. Easy drive, around 2h45 to Tignes so -30 mins to Les Arcs. Just dont be tempted to take the Mont Blanc Tunnel route. I think that is your cheapest option. It will also give you the option of skiing nearby restorts.

Thanks guys! Didn't expect so mant replies. I thought about hiring a car but none of us feel that comfident driving in snowy places and we also have quite a long drive to and fro the airport in Uk (live down in Cornwall) so were hoping to kick back and enjoy the views on the journey there!
I'll check out the ones you've suggested and post again if I find a good deal.
Thanks again!

Just to let you know that i've booked with Cool Bus for £80 each return - which is expensive compared to driving but none of us felt comfortable driving - and this was definately the cheapest of the lot. And they have game boys in the buses!
