Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

fitting bigger baskets help

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I currently ski with a set of komperdell poles which i love. However i need to upgrade the baskets to avoid them sinking on technical turns, currently 50mm diameter and would like 95mm+

My problem is that the majority of 'powder baskets' have screw fitting system and my poles are snap-click on rental style.

Could anybody recommend some baskets that would fit?

thanks[/img]

@gherrick,

I fitted Black Diamond Powder Baskets to my Scott poles a few years ago. They cost about £4.00. I pulled the old baskets off and then placed the new baskets in some recently boiled water for 10 minutes - I then forced them on. Whether they will fit your poles I do not know. Check out the Black Diamond website for technical specifications. I hope this helps.

@gherrick, there are plenty out there. I suggest you contact Komperdell via their website if you can't find the correct one.

I picked up a pair of Komp. 10cm baskets off the shelf in Au Vieux Campeur last year. If you are not in France / Albertville / Sallanches, try them on line.

@under a new name, I wondered as well. Probably kick turns, so would like bigger baskets to provide more support in soft snow.

It's exactly that, i find my poles useless when navigating technical sections.

Thank you for the advice, I've ordered a set of Leki big mountain baskets (https://www.bergzeit.co.uk/leki-big-mountain-basket-for-ski-touring-blau/?gclid=CJ6378n88ckCFQ_gGwodAFkJgw) and by the sounds of things i think they'll fit, ill let you know how i get on

I put big powder baskets on my skis so I'd look like a badass in the lift queue. It hasn't worked. I think I need some really massively wide long skis that ski like a 65mm waisted pair of 165s that are prototypes from somewhere and don't have any branding yet etc. Suggestions welcome.

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

Otherwise you'll just go on seeing the one name:
I found that my poles were a little stouter than the norm - Salomons (my last piece of original ski stuff that I hadn't replaced over my many years of skiing).
In the end I visited a friendly ski shop in resort. The technician produced a big box containing an assortment of (used) powder baskets from under the counter.
We sifted through many different styles 'till we found a pair that fit. Gave him €10 for his trouble.
But in the end I ended up buying some proper carbon Armada touring poles that were discounted to £50.

@Digger the dinosaur, Try Armada TST's playful on short turns and wide enough for float in the deep stuff. In my opinion the true one ski quiver.
