Poster: A snowHead

Hi I'm new to this site
Just a quick one,
We are flying out to Sauze on the 27th and are worried about the lack of (natural) snow in the resort. Does anyone know if there are any car rental shops in or around Sauze so we can drive to somewhere like Orelle if the snow doesn't come. Or would it mean hiring a car in the airport (a transfer is already included in our package deal)?
Many thanks

This MoneySavingExpert article is my 1st port of call when looking for car hire...a search of one of the broker websites mentioned there should reveal the nearest hire location...maybe down in Oulx...but you may have access to more companies/better prices if you took a car from Turin airport for the week though.

I'm in exacty the same situation except a couple of weeks on from you. I've done a search on the net and didn't come up with anything in Sauze so looked at Turin and obviously came up with loads. About £100 I seem to remember for a basic small car. I'm more thinking of going non ski sightseeing than hunting for another resort. The way things are going with my dodgy knee I'll be sat reading in the hotel for a week!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

You'd have to hire a car at the airport. There are local taxi services, I recommend http://www.taximagno.it/homeing.htm
Val Thorens will be very buys at New Year. Although they probably have the best coverage in the Alps, they are only 60% open.
Bring some hiking boots and enjoy some lovely long lunches at Ciao Pais and La Fontaine.

that actually sounds like quite good advice, if restaurants are open when pistes are closed, though obviously disappointing when you'd planned a ski holiday!

Ciao Pais will probably be open, it is all summer. It's well worth a visit.

Thanks for all your advise. Still praying for the snow but if it doesn't come soon I think we will hire a car from the airport. Can't go to a ski resort and not ski!!!

We are in the same boat.
Right now, they have one lift open, two pistes, and trying to prepare more. But with this weather pattern, not wanting to budge, I'm not feeling hopeful for snow.
