Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

hi All,

i've had a pair of Nordica SM8s (the blue ones) for around 7 years now, my first boots and we have had very happy times together (initially 2 x week hols, latterly just one/year)
i had bunion surgery 2 years ago and did consider new boots after this, but have an emotional attachment to my current ones. I'm wondering whether its time to rethink as Im going to Val Disere for new year. I ithnk i'm pronating generally in everyday life and think i may be doing this in my boots a bit since the op.
My OH had problems with his boots/foot cramping for several years and got surefoot boots/liners last year so thinks they are a great option- i'm a little Shocked at the cost
soo options are;-
do nothing and see how i get on
get new insoles for current boots
get new boots here (i'm south manchester so S&R, EB or Rivington pike could be choices)
get boots in resort (expensive methinks)

thoughts please?

If your old boots are confortable & u like them, I'd hang onto them tbh. I might buy a new set of moulded insoles if you're passing a good value boot fitters sometime.

When I had insoles made for my boots I was amazed at how much difference it made to the fit and consequently my skiing. I was having difficulty with internal fit vs getting them tight enough as I have high arches and tightening the boots just started to flatten my feet out, mine are just basic heat formed type but they transformed the boots so I think very worthwhile.
