Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Keeping a non-skier amused in Kitzbuhel/Kirchberg for a day

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi,

On Saturday 26th December, I am intending to ski with my daughter at Kitzbuhel - hoping that as it is a Saturday it will be less manic than later in New Year week.

My wife does not ski but would like to see Kitzbuhel as she has never been. So I have a couple of options in mind.....

1) Drive to Kirchberg - get lift up and leave Mrs TG at bottom to explore for the morning - is there enough for her for a couple of hours before lunch? Lunch would be taken earlyish in Kitzbuhel and we would drive there for lunch before leaving her to mooch the afternoon, while I and my daughter ski the afternoon.

2) Drive to Kitzbuheler horn and get her to come up and sit in the restaurant in the top for the morning before mooching around in the afternoon.

She is unlikely to want to use the pool by herself - or we might do this is a family after skiing.

Any thoughts/suggestions or ideas what else might keep my wife amused for the day?

Thanks

If your wife likes mountains there is the possibility of Winter Hiking:

https://www.kitzbuehel.com/en/winter-holiday/winter-walking

and there is of course always:

https://www.kitzbuehel.com/en/events-lifestyle/exklusiv-shopping

but don't know how interested your are in that? wink

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

3) Give her £1000 to spend in the many high class shops in the town centre!

You'll be able to ski all day!

@TallGuyUK, There are several horse drawn carriage drivers based in the old town pedestrianised main street (Vorderstadt) in the centre of Kitzbuhel that offer short rides around the centre of Kitzbuhel. Afterwards she can have a coffee and cake in Cafe Praxmair Madeye-Smiley

You mentioned that she is unlikely to want to use the pool by herself. The Aquarena centre is a good way to spend some hours though - one of the pools has water jets etc, and I know that various spa treatments are available there.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

The Kitzbühel Museum is in the central area of the town and worth a visit if you like that sort of thing. As well as sections on the history of skiing and the art of Alfons Walde (see exhibitions), there are also displays on the development of the Kitzbühel region since early days.

@Alastair Pink, Thanks - Tea and Cake were always likely! Smile

@espri, The museum is a great shout - thanks

@daveqpr, @Hyst, Thanks - but I really do not need to encourage her to go shopping!

Why not drive to the Hahnenkamm lift first up. She could get the lift up the mountain with you, or meet up there later.

Yes, I'd forgotten that, at the top station of the Hahnenkamm gondola. This is an extensive exhibition on skiing, particularly its development in Kitzbühel. There is also a restaurant in the building.

I would advise her to look in the museum but then don the snowboots and find a near mountain hut to eat. Think the restaurant is over priced and found the staff obnoxious. Only an opinion though!

I think if I were spending a day there, as a non skier, I'd probably prefer to spend most time in the town itself, certainly including the museum. But then, if I were Mrs @TallGuyUK, I'd be on the internet myself, planning my day. wink

If you're not skiing, hiking, poloing, biking, driving, photoing, shopping, restauranting, drinking or casinoing in Kitz during Winter, then you're gonna be restricted to a handful of small museums and fancy churches.
