Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Stubai & Hintertux - Nov 2015

Just back from a day at Stubai and two at Hintertux - good time had by Mrs MA and me Very Happy :

- Cover pretty extensive, given weeks of warm weather and no new snow.
- Full range of snow conditions - varying from loose and powdery to hardpack; from slick patches to exposed areas of glacial ice. Artificial snow was a lifesaver on the mostly-slick run to Stubai middle station.
- Mainly sunny and mild but -3C and cloudy/windy on Sunday at Tux.
- Very busy in places on Sat and Sun. Some dangerously-quick skiers on crowded runs.
- Queues of only a few mins for gondolas at Hintertux but up to 15 mins for drag lifts; four or five minute queues at Stubai - a lot quieter first thing on Mon at Tux.

Good news then. Off to Stubai tonight for the weekend. First of 5 ski trips for this season. Would be nice if the expected snow gets there before me.

20-odd cm of snow to come at Neustift/Stubai Valley level; freezing level as low as sea level....Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
