Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Lanersbach

Poster: A snowHead
Hello Fellow Snowies. I am thinking of Lanersbach for late January. We are a bunch of (5) ahem "older" guys Smile who like a nice hotel with some decent wellness facilities along with few bars for a not too rowdy beer. We have been going to Zillertal for some years but always Gerlos. We fancy the neighbouring valley for a change. We have been to Finkenberg and Mayrhofen. Has anyone been to the Sporthotel Kirchler? Alternatively, does anyone know any other nice digs?

I spent a week touring out of Lanersbach a few years back. Stayed at the Hotel Jaeger: http://www.jaeger-tux.at/en/. I'd rate it a very good 3* and would go back again. Looks like they have upgraded a bit since I was there. It's a block off the main valley road. Bus stop close by. They have a sister hotel in Vorderlanersbach, Hotel Alpenjuwel, http://www.alpenjuwel-tux.at/. It's a 4* if you're looking to step up a notch. Good location near the lift.
Sporthotel Kirchler is on the main road as I recall. I have not been there but it's hard to go wrong.

I think the best skiing in the Zillertal is at Kaltenbach. As it's linked to Hoch Fugen you get a decent size area with a fair bit of variety. Also seems to suffer less lift queues than Gerlos.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@wib, stayed at the Tuxerhof in Vorderlanersbach https://www.tuxerhof.at/en/ and it doesn't get much nicer frankly. A very short walk to the Rastkogelbahn which takes you up to the general Mayrhofen ski area. Vorderlanersbach is more compact and better positioned for skiing than Lanersbach - but there is always the bus and Hintertux etc.

@Valkyrie, I'm also looking at Kaltenbach for a short trip in Jan. Any tips - good bars, restaurants, good b&b or apartment?
