Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

help with skipasses avoriaz/morzine please?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
hi there and thanks in advance,
I am confused about what skipasses to buy for our family of 5 (2 adults, 17 yo, 14 yo and 13 yo) we are reasonably experienced skiers though the kids leave us for dead!
we are staying Avoriaz 16-23/1 and Morzine Village 23-26/1/16.
the longest Avoriaz pass (non season pass) seems to be 2 days so I assume that is no tgoing to have enough variety for our length of time.
then there are passes for the whole Portes du soleil and also for Morzine les gets.
could anyone tell me what pass would most likely best suit for total 8 days? is whole portes too big? I can see the piste maps online but by the time I zoom in so I can read them I cant see enough to make sense of it (especially translated!)
I have tried emailing tourist centre but no response. also tried a post on trip advisor forum but no luck.
would appreciate the help please. i would like to purchase before 30/11 and hopefully get 10% off.
thank you, kate

I think you will be best getting the whole PDS pass for your 8 days and then while you are up in Aviriaz you can use it for Avoriaz itself, for going to the Chatel side and also going into Switzerland. And it will then cover you for Les Gets/Morzine for the second part of your trip. Is 8 days the total amount you are wishing to ski?
Oh, and welcome to Snowheads snowHead

I ski in the PdS every year and stay in Morzine. Getting the whole PdS opens up a huge ski area as @Pamski, says ski Avoriaz, Chatel and some of the small Swiss resorts, I like Les Crosets, in your first week then do Morzine and Les Gets in the second stint. It aslo gives you some flexibility weather wise. There are almost no trees in Avoriaz so in case of poor visibility you can go over to the Morzine side.
The PdS discount the lift passes, http://en.portesdusoleil.com/lift-ticket.html , so if you buy before end of Nov you get 10% discount. They also do a family of 4 deal, http://en.portesdusoleil.com/pass-free-kids.html, with 10% discount. Not sure if you get both sets of 10%.

Email the lift pass office, internet@ski-morzine.com, and they'll give you all the info you need

We will be staying in Avoriaz, Pas du Lac. On the SERMA website, is this the right place to collect lift passes from:

SERMA Reception - Office at t... Accueil SERMA - Gare superieure Prodains Express

Or should I get them posted to me?

Thanks

Picking passes up from Prodains shouldn't be an issue, if anything its a good excuse for a walk around the town on your first day. Your accommodation is actually one of the closest one's to the pass office, and it's all downhill, so you could even pick them up on first morning of skiing.

thanks very much for your replies and advice. I have decided to get whole PdS. the price difference is not huge anyway. the point about being able to go somewhere more protected or whatever if weather bad in one spot is a good one.
but most of all, I like variety!
we are having a week at Thyon 2000 Switzerland earlier in the season. we have been there quite a few times and I am a bit bored with it to be honest.so looking forward to trying something new.
thanks do much and happy skiing, kate (and safe!)
