Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

New hotel in Serre Chevalier - Villeneuve Langley's Hotel La Vieille Ferme

Well the hotel is not new, it's positively ancient but it's new to Crystal for this year.

Friends have just booked it for the Xmas week at a very good price of £509pp

And interesting to see that Langley are still operating it, and their team is always very very good there, so you might be booking Crystal but the staff are definitely not!

So presume they'll be Swedes as well as Brits as it's on both the Crystal site and the Langley Travel site.

We go up there as they have a nice bar and do a very good rotisserie once a week which is superb.

As for residents, I know that the food is really first class (not Crystal chalet girl cooking), though think bedrooms etc are a little "tired" but the place is full of character.

We stayed in a Langley run hotel in Alpe d'Huez on my first ski trip. Food was excellent quality, but less hearty than a hard day skiing deserves! Staff were great, very friendly and helpful.

They ran their own ski hire, not sure if that is typical of all Langley hotels. The OH travelled with her own skis and took them in for them to service. They said that it wouldn't be worth servicing them as they were past it, but said for her to try out some of theirs. They took them out the sellophane and said to come back for them in the morning. She returned them at the end of the week and asked how much she owed, they said "don't worry about it, you were testing them for us." But didn't ask for any feedback whatsoever!
