I found it after reading something on the web about RIDE (snowboard manufacturer), who at some recent marketing show had an advert
"“The worst thing about riding a Burton is telling your friend you're gay"
(shown in this link - http://www.outsports.com/local/2004/0309antigaysnowboard.htm) that was having a pop at Burton (another manufacturer).

Bleedin ell! I have heard it all now!!!! There is a large thread on theboarder.co.uk about the Ride advert. Political Correctness is the greatest barrier to humour these days!

I guess it's the sort of throw away comment that mates use everyday. People don't take any notice of it and no harm is caused.
I think it's pretty stupid of a large company to say something like that though as it can always be taken out of context and mis-interpreted, just like contributing to a web discussion - you may think what you've written is fine but someone else could read it differently and think it's rude, you're having a pop at someone etc.
I think they are just saying that Burton riders are a happy lot.
Whatever the intention it has got them a hell of a lot of media attention for free

Dan, according to Snowboyz, there was a "Special GAY Ski Week at Montchavin (La Plagne) 31 January 2004.
I was in La Plagne with 300 anaesthetists that week - no one told us!  Another opportunity missed.
