Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Following on from my post about going to Les Houches for the Anglo Scottish series I’m now looking for accommodation. Cost is a greater factor than facilities and so long as the place is clean and comfortable we should be okay. As we need to get to Les Houches early each day we’ll have a car so location is not too important either.
@RobW
gave me a couple of suggestions but they do not have availability for the dates we need. The hotels that seen to fit with what I’m looking for and have availability are:-
Hotel Aiguille Du Midi -
www.hotel-aiguilledumidi.com
Vert Hotel -
www.verthotel.com
Hotel La Fontaine -
www.hotel-lafontaine-chamonix.com
Has anyone stayed in any of these and can give me a view on them? La Fontaine has extra facilities, is cheaper, but seems to be a bit further away. It also says that the nearest restaurants are 0.9 miles away.

The food at the Aig du Midi is good. It's probably quite nice rooms.
The beer at the Vert is Good. No idea about the rooms.
La Fontaine is out of any town.
None of them are central for anything...
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I've not stayed in any of those, but being a proper town AirBnb has a lot of options in Chamonix and is worth a try - it's how I booked my accommodation for NY week, for a very reasonable price.

How many is "we"?
I can recommend this place which, despite the name, is in Le Fayet - a hop and a skip from Les Houches:
Very reasonable price self-catering accommodation for 6-8 people. There are a few other hotel options in Le Fayet which might work out cheap too:

Or maybe this in Les Houches:

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.
