Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Sidas Boot Warmers/ Dryers Overheated

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
In an attempt to improve the smell from my son's boots I bought a set of Sidas Dry warmers. They seemed to be doing the trick with the smell reducing and his boots drying nicely between his twice weekly sessions.

Last week I was a bit shocked when I pulled the dryers out to see they had melted. Not only could this have damaged his boots but I fear they could have started a fire.

Absolute Snow haven't quibbled and are giving me a full refund. Part of me thinks I should refer it to Trading Standards as these are potentially dangerous.

@skimottaret, they are. It is a single plug that tuns a single length of cable thst then goes in to a splitter and out to the individual heaters.

The units are at home and I'm away for a few days but I'll photograph it when I get home.

I would assume it was the power supply that failed, make sure you get the model number serial number. That is quite a nasty failure and shouldn't happen

@skimottaret, I don't think there is a PSU. The mains cable just splits so I think all the power handling is in the individual heaters.

It is. It seems to have occurred at the same point so it could well be that the splitter is a convector /transformer. I'll have a good look when I get home.

Gaza, What size are his boots ? Maybe the heaters are designed to work with a larger volume of air surrounding them.

They are 22.5 but they sell these as glove dryers too so volume should not be an issue. They offered me another set but I reject the offer and asked for a refund which they have provided.
