Wait - you're riding back-foot free?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Where is the powder?
I'm thinking that there's probably a lot of it left for everyone else if you're riding it single-footed

@CANV CANVINGTON, if you're that far back it's time to go 'binding free'. Grip tape, a surfboard leash and a hole in the tail of your board to tie it to . . . Learning curve from hell with bruises to match . . . But seriously cred with the lady lifties

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

If you get in the back seat on a no-board I'd expect you to eat snow quickly as you have no way to lever yourself back into balance. I think you'e right though - sounds like the OP should get onto proving me wrong on that.

If you're getting bruises then you're probably riding on the wrong type of snow. Actually it may be interesting to try to no-board on plastic - I'd guess it's impossible but it may only be silly. If you put enough time into it maybe it could be done with reasonable style (I don't mean just getting down).

@philwig, just half a day so far on less than ideal snow, I've always advocated learning to scoot and slide with unclipped bindings . . . But an empty topsheet is a whole new set of bruises.

I have a few days more, but only in deep snow hence entirely bruise free. I need my share options to vest then I'll spend a week or two getting it dialed.
Trying to ride home down a snow covered road demonstrated that edges aren't really relevant if you've nothing to torque them into the hard pack with, in my opinion. The Burton Throwback may get more people on silly boards this year, assuming it's not just something people'll buy to stick on their walls. I'm unconvinced I like the style, but it's a challenge and those are always amusing. I watched Terje do reasonably well on an Asmo once, although it was only reasonably well...
