Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi - hopefully going to St Anton in March 2016, and will either be 4 adults and one child, or 6 adults and one child. Would really love a self catering apartment if possible, but not sure this is really available much over there? The main reasons for this are - we have our son so a hotel room does not work as he goes to bed a lot earlier than we do, and one of us would have to stay with him. The other thing is my husband is gluten and dairy free, so not keen on a catered chalet in case they cannot really cater for him.
I have been told Nasserein is good for kids (he will be going to daycare/ski school), so any tips around this would be great too.
Thanks!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I wonder why tour operators so rarely offer SC accommodation in Austria. We did an apartment with Inghams, ages ago, which was lovely but not offered the following year, when we would have returned. That was long before Internet made DIY easy. I'm sure it would be a popular option as many people choose SC where it's available.

Because there just aren't the same apartment blocks in Austria as France, so apartments are in cosier Haus of say 4 and often privately owned so far harder to contract en masse for than with a single mgt company. Same for CH.

Yep I've SC a couple of times in Austria. Used Interhome twice for this, and local tourist boards loads of times. gives massive amounts of flexability.

Try http://www.raffl.info. They have some larger apartments and convenient to Nassereinbahn. You can either catch the Linie 4 bus from a stop about 50 metres up the road or walk down about 100 metres to just behind the Arlenburg, and then ski/skate down to N'Bahn. Reverse the direction in the evening.
Raffl's is quite heavily booked in the Jan to mid-March period, so getting in early is a good idea. PM me if you want to know more. BTW I do not own it, nor have any commercial interest in it.

@kirstyw, Hi, have a look at Appartments Fliana, we stayed there last season and will definitely go back. We booked via Bookings.com. It's up the steep hill from town, not for everyone but we quite liked the walk up the hill. Frequent free ski buses passing at bus stop over road, 50m away. Really good quality, super clean (as everything in Austria is)....definitely worth a look.
