Here in Serre in the valley at 1400 been howling all day with some huge gusts coming through.
All the tele-cabins shut and a few chairs open from the valley floor and a some less exposed intermediary chairs to around 2400.
Has been very sunny and temps are a balmy 15.5 - sitting here with the patio doors half open !!
Very bleak looking up the valley, can't see the Galibier sector all in cloud.

La Plagne. Not that windy - certainly way less than yesterday. All open except glacier. Scattered clouds with sunny periods this morning.

QUITE windy??
At times it was insanely windy...I was in a tuck position pointing directly down a decent pist at Lac de Vaux and was stationary with my face getting blasted!
If that was quite windy I dread to think what you call very windy

Vars, windy, some lifts shut in morning, almost all closed by 3pm. Still glorious sunshine though! The 8year old was having to pole to go down a blue against the wind.

On Grand Montets, Argentiere wind picked up in afternoon to the point that they closed mountain early. Skied down into rain, much nicer up top.

Brévènt, Chamonix, gusting so hard that the wind blew me backwards on my skis.
Only two lifts open and all of the top was closed.

Tourist board in Sainte Foy emailed me earlier regarding ski passes, she mentioned in passing that they have had 50cm of fresh snow in L'Aiguille but the chairlift was closed due to high winds and avalanche risk. More snow forecast for tonight. Winds looking to ease.

The Belleville valley. After early reports suggested little open above mid station, things improved greatly. Though we remained in the Les Menuires area, the links to VT were open by mid morning (and therefore Meribel, which were closed yesterday). The wind did seem to gust straight up the valley this morning but calmed later on. Don't think the top of La Masse opened.

Grand massif
Didn't get to flaine, but did rest of GM, even top of tete des saix (2200m) not really that windy. Lifts all open, but not sure about flaine, some small avalanches onto pistes which were closed around gron in les carroz (and people ignoring and skiing them!) Hailed for a bit skiing back home which stung a bit, huge hail stones!!

Chatel. Pre La Joux area. Base lifts open one upper lift at midday (Rochassons) which opened the link with Avoriaz, stayed open until at least 4 when I left the mountain.
Wind was pretty high but never felt too bad due to its warmth. Glad they had something open as the skiing was still worthwhile for holidaymakers. Snow is very wet and heavy, freezing level due to drop tonight. Looking forward to a return to winter no matter how slight.

I think all the regular lifts were open throughout the Espace Diamant. One advantage of a relatively low altitude area. Plus, the pistes were empty without a breath of a lift queue. I was in the XC area so no first hand experience of the snow. It was perfect in the XC area this morning but no doubt got sludgy in many places from early afternoon onwards.

Durham was rather wild overnight, most of the bins and recycling boxes were strewn all over the street this morning. Why is it always windy on bin day? Freezing cold wind, and a mixture of sunshine, rain, sleet and snow all day.

Pila - Only the top two chairs were closed which didn't close too much of the area. It was really windy on the gondola up from Aosta but almost no wind at all up in Pila until around 3pm when it started to pick up

One of my shutter stays has just been pulled clean out of the concrete wall, never known it this windy. Same over Europe I believe. All chairlifts closed today.

137kph recorded at the Deutsches Museum in Munich today at a humble and rather flat 570-ish metres asl. The Zugspitze recorded a top wind speed of 193 kph and all the lifts were closed.
The main roads seem to be badly affected as are the overhead power lines on the railways. Munich is at gridlock due to closed roads, mainly fallen trees and buildings damage. The motorways are affected by trucks that have been blown over.

I always thought strong winds were a largely coastal phenomenon. It's pretty rare here in Derbyshire, it has to be a north easterly wind to have much of an impact. But this theory does not explain what's happened in Munich. Can any weather gurus shed any light?

Same in the Isere, warm and sunny and the rain didn't do too much damage, although almost every slope at the 7 Laux ski area had purged.

Anything mid station upwards was shut in and around Saalbach Ski Circus apart from the Zwolferkogel which was open all the way to the top. Bar the odd gust the wind it was fine on there, ridiculously hot all morning though..

Feckin wind - threw a spanner in the works for our plan this morning as I was due to take a guy out for some slack country / off piste (he's 67 !!) but telecabines and upper chairs shut.
So he was still keen to do something so up to the Lautaret to for a little tour but wind was so cold nothing had transformed to spring and was boiler plate/ice, then came back down after 15 mins as was not going to be good and spotted a few gulleys that had accumulated some wind blown so back on with the skins and up one of those to give him an idea of powder etc
He was very happy but not too sure we would have gone out today, so at least dogs had a good outing.
And once back down can see one of the drag lifts that was closed earlier now open, but snow would still not have transformed with the cold wind.
This time yesterday temp was 16 and now it's 8.
Seems to be that every conceivable spanner is in the works at the moment down here with the classic "wrong type of snow" and too much wind and things looking better up North (Northern Alps that is), enjoy
