When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Atomic Sx11 replacement

Hi. My 2006 Atomic SX11 are coming to the end of there life so looking for equivalent replacement. Any advise please ? They have served me well on all types of pistes and snow conditions. Even taken them off-piste trying to master technique rather than ease of use. Ski length is 170, my weight is 150 lbs (68Kgs) height 5 11 (1.80m). Don't want to compromise piste performance for offpiste use. Reading reviews can be confusing especially when they talk about weight and strength needed to get best out of particular ski. Maybe the Atomics where to powerful for me but certainly enjoyed the speed and stability.

If you really don't want to compromise piste performance, I'd suggest the closest thing to the SX:11 is probably a "detuned" GS ski. Head Supershapes f'rinstance come to mind.
