Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Tremblant at Easter - any good?

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi. I was wondering if anyone has been to Tremblant. I am tentatively thinking of there for Easter next year but not sure about snow conditions and lift queues. I've looked at the Web cams a few times and they look pretty long, although I'm not sure how quickly they clear. Is it a particular issue? We've done Finland and Norway recently and neither have been an issue but I fancy trying further afield. Obviously the relatively short flight is an attraction. Would it be good for a "nervous blue"/easy red skiiers? Cheers.

I also meant to ask if anyone had skied anywhere else in Canada and if so, how did they find it?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Groan. As soon as I pressed Submit I realised I was leaving myself open to that, but got distracted so didn't amend it! Note to self, a) check post for daft wording b) don't get distracted and c) pick a resort that someone has heard of!!

@bambionskiis, Personally I wasn't that keen on Tremblant but it was a rotten freeze/thaw week at New Year (a good while back). On the East Coast I've also skied Stoneham and Mont Ste Anne (staying in Quebec City) and enjoyed that. Not sure what the East coast is like at Easter. I prefer the West coast - skied Panorama, Fernie, Big White, Sunshine, Lake Louise, Whistler, Sun Peaks. I would recommend Big White or Sun Peaks but they are both a long journey as they need internal flights as well as the international flight. The West coast has had a poor season this year in the more southerly resorts e.g. Whistler. I was at Sun Peaks last week and the snow base is thinning rapidly and a number of runs had closed by the end of the week. I can't see it holding up till Easter at this rate. No queues anywhere usually, apart from Whistler and Sunshine in a high season weekend

Flying to ski on the US/Canada East Coast always seems like an odd thing to do. Small resorts, generally pretty average snow conditions. Much longer flights (and therefore more cost) than going to the Alps, for inferior resorts/snow. What's the point?

Great if you're already there of course!

Hi all. Thanks for your replies - much appreciated. The snow conditions there were bothering me I must admit and the more I've looked into it the less convinced I am that it is what we are after. It seems to tick many of the boxes, but obviously snow is up there at No1! We may well end up back at Norway because we really liked it. I'm pretty fussy as I'm quite nervous and need wide "cruisy blues", snow sure as it will probably be easter (although we may look at half term in Feb if it's getting too hard). We usually stay in an apart hotel as we like the buzz of being in a hotel but the convenience of having separate bedrooms for the kids and a pool/leisure facilities. Short transfers (long flight not a problem, but hate sitting for hours on coaches). I was looking at Obertauern in Austria, so may explore that further. Cheers.
