Poster: A snowHead

I've just tried to book a two week holiday next January. Both weeks are available as single weeks and the hotel and airports are the same for each of the weeks. However when I try to book the fortnight as a single holiday the website tells me that it's not available. Why could this be?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@BobG, i suspect that you're trying to book "on-line" in which case it will be that the operator/site hasn't configured 2 weeks as an option.
After all i'M guessing you'd rather only pay for 2 flights and not 4?

You could always do the Pre Birth Bash followed by the Birthday Bash. Last week of Jan and first week of Feb. Of course the buttons aren't up yet.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I bet if you phoned and spoke to an actual person it'd be fine. Things aren't always easier on the internet. The friends staying with me had been poring over the internet trying to find out about the ski lesson arrangements for ESF and Evo 2 in Arc 2000 yesterday - I rang the two ski schools and got the answers in about 5 minutes flat. And I didn't even have to speak French - they spoke excellent English!

I like to go for two weeks at Christmas/New Year, changing resort after a week so it doesn't get boring. Most of the main package operators will do this for you if you phone them but in our experience they're not very good at doing transfers between resorts. They prefer to bus you back to an airport then bus you out again a few hours later. Much better to organise your own trip or go through a specialist like Ski Bespoke.

@pam w, Whilst the ESF office employees may speak English in Arc 2000 not all the instructors do. We had an Arc 2000 ESF instructor last year who is the regular gold level instructor who literally didn't speak a word of English to my kids all week. He said he was used to teaching all nationalities including Russian by drawing diagrams in the snow. However my daughter was caught out on the first day when they went over a jump she wasn't expecting and she hurt her ankle. We had to move her down a group.
@BobG, I would definitely suggest phoning the TO and also ask what second week discounts they offer

@snowymum, I know all instructors don't speak English.

I would go for organising yourself, I used to like the fact the TO would make sure I got home etc but the savings to be made on DIY and the greater choice really do make the perceived TO benefits almost moot. I guess it just depends on your idea of risk.

We have done this with both Inghams and Mark Warner, but you have to speak to them and you can negotiate a bit of a discount for the flights (c£150 pp) but not as much as you would hope! We go to Canada for several weeks every year, but that is on scheduled airlines so a bit different - we use Ski Independence and they seem to get very good rates from the hotels and discounts on the lift passes.
