Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Top Customer Service From Leki

Well not really Leki but their UK importers; Ardblair Sports Importers Ltd up in Blairgowrie.

I managed to snap the top section of one of their Vario Peak poles tree skiing last week. They had been a Christmas prezzie, and at £100 a pop I was a bit fed up at the thought of binning them.

As a long shot I emailed Ardblair to see if they stocked them as a spare, but they aren't actually a manufacturers spare part. However, a very nice lady called Suzanne asked me to send a photo and she's see if they had any top sections hanging around from warranty claims relating to other parts of the pole.

She found one and has posted it to me for nowt! I hadn't expected not to pay anything, but am impressed with that sort of customer care. Makes me feel warm and fuzzy towards Leki and felt I should share the love.

@Mosha Marc, ....I like it a lot when people are as helpful with me as I try to be with them. I have some unusual hi fi amplifiers, Myst TMA3, two of them. And the toroidal transformer went in one - an unusual failure. These things are beautiful bits of kit from the 1980s - Myst went out of existence in the 90s. I 'phoned up the OEM in Scotland, and the female on the end of the phone said '...yes I recognise that serial number - myst - weobley in Herefordshire - I'll find the spec sheet in the archives and get one wound - they were a special order, very low profile winding...'. Arrived 48 hrs later. Utterly brilliant.

Conversely, I asked Ardblair about getting a replacement wrist strap for a Trigger S pole as my son lost one in a fall - I had been to local retailers, without any luck. Ardblar simply referred me back to the retailers. I live less than a mile away from them so would have been prepared to cycle by, and pay, but no.

Great.....It is good to hear that some manufacturers and distributors actually try to support their products.. I cracked the lower section of my Salomon Vario Carbon poles which were also not cheap. When trying to buy a new replacement section , I was more than disappointed to discover that there are no spare parts available for a set of £100 poles. Even more worrying for me was the fact that I had just bought the Salomon Guardian bindings too which the poles are designed to be used with.

Dealer was sympathetic and surprised also that parts not available. Contacted Salomon direct and all I got was promises of a Salomon product specialist being in touch with me which never happened and then eventually they stopped responding to my emails so my £100.00 poles resigned to scrap heap.

Learned a lesson and now only will buy product from manufacturers that will support their own product with spares availability. Now using Black Diamond poles which proper spares are available for.

Unlikely to ever buy Salomon product again.

@yellow Pyranha weve always got spares as they redundant when using leki trigger gloves, which a lot of the kids at the club use, always happy to supply them, for a small donation to club funds.

We use a LOT of leki products, and unlike some manufacturers theyve always beed happy to supply FOC patches badges and stickers, so a lot of our race kids have them on helmets and jackets.

Encourages others to then use the products............ Smile

which is in contrast to some other large manufacturers!!!!

@Mosha Marc, @iskar, thanks, it's fine; I no longer need them as I sold the poles (minus one strap) at the Cairngorm sale last year. I just find it strange that the same company gives such different experiences - perhaps they thought I was trying it on, since they knew I was local (I included my phone number). I have nothing against them - in fact I use Trigger S, and we've got 2 pairs of Leki walking poles at home, but I wouldn't put them before any other manufaccturer when replacing any of those.

It turned up today, and while second hand as expected; it's in better condition than mine was before I broke it.

Thinking about your experience Yellow Pyranha, those straps are sold by Leki retailers as a normal product, so I don't think the importers can sell directly to the public as it is not good etiquette and possibly in breach of their contracts to both the manufacturers and the retailers.

I love Leki gear - very reliable and suits me to a tee. Used their glove/pole old style trigger combo for over ten years and despite owning numerous alternatives, I always seem to gravitate back to this combo 'one last time'. Wish all manufacturers were this good.
