Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

And although not really inside it's fairly limited ski area, there is yet another large white ball a little bit higher up the mountain in Mt. Olympus, Cyprus.

They are monitoring the number of snowboarders on the mountain, too many and it becomes un-skiable so they release some invisible drones to take them out... it's the only way I can explain the number of snowboarders you see sitting down on the piste, they just seem to magically fall over Toofy Grin Twisted Evil

@Little Martin, I infer from your post, that you have never tried standing still on a snowboard. I see quite a lot of skiers standing on the piste - not infrequently in the middle.

I ride my mountain bike around Chicksands. I know there's an intelligence agency centre there now, but I'm not sure there's too much listening going on any more (I could be wrong though!)

@stanton, according to Wiki

Olympus, or Chionistra, at 1,952 metres, is the highest point in Cyprus. It is located in the Troodos Mountains of Cyprus

That's the hill which has both the small ski resort and the Dome. I know it's known informally as Mt Troodos - but that's not the correct name.

Never mind the semantics - but RAF Mount Troodos had the only 'mile high' Officers' Mess in the RAF wink

I am from Cyprus as it happens ...

Troodos is in fact the name of the whole mountain range (1 of 2 in Cyprus, the other one being in the Turkish occupied northern part of the island) - range extends from the Paphos coast on the west all the way to the mid-plains on the outskirts of Nicosia.

Mount Olympus is the highest peak at 1,952M - Chonistra (which incidentally means "snowy lady") is just an informal / local name for the peak.

I remember when I was growing up on the island (I only moved to the UK in 1991) snow depths of 2M-3M at the end of February were not unheard of.

Anyway back to more pressing matters - need to go and pack for Zermatt. Toofy Grin

franga, thanks for the insider info - and have a good one in Switzerland.
chocksaway, isn't sH a mine of useless info? wink snowHead wink

Off topic - there is a super Nature Trail which winds all the way round near the top of the mountain. Easy car park access.
I've done most of it on a mountain bike - but a couple of bits were 'get off and push territory' - not because of gradients - didn't fancy biking on top of what was basically a dry stone dyke with a huge drop-off on on side. snowHead Cool A great walk with super views.

@Dubaian, Very Happy .
But if I had started talking about the capabilities of the Radar (I've been in) I would probably have the black sedans pulling up outside Chez Chocks within the hour.
