Heading to cham on saturday for the week and have just seen the forecast - are the warm temps going to result in a disastrous weeks skiing? Need re-asurance!

Skiing in warm weather is nice. Think 3cm of slush on an ice base... perfect. Think Moguls you can destroy by simply hitting them. I like skiing slush almost as much as skiing powder.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Big fat +1.
Other than powder, warm spring skiing is the absolute best. Well ok, maybe good corn is better, but that's a tough call.
Ridiculous amounts of grip on softened pistes so you can get up to stupid edge angles, fun forgiving moguls that you can either dance through or utterly destroy (depending on mood), and sitting around outside bars drinking cold beer in tshirts. No need to get up early as before 9:30/10 snow will be rock hard misery - the later you get up, the better the snow!
What more do you want?

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Looks like it will be pretty warm indeed. The valley runs will suffer, but they are rubbish anyway, even when the snow is good they are only skied at the end of the day to get home. The skiing high up should be fine, especially on the Grands Montets where it's usually good well in to May. You'll probably want to take the lift down at the end of the day, certainly do that later in the week if it does stay warm all week.

It's been snowing all week, with 50cm+ of new snow. Even Les Houches is reporting all runs open. Then its going to be sunny all next week, with low overnight temperatures. I struggle to see why you're worried!
I think that next week will probably be the best week of the season so far! You might have to walk a bit if you're after fresh tracks, but since the GM Top bin hasn't been running all week (I think - maybe it squeezed a few trips in one day) there will still be lots of nice stuff up there.
I'm off tonight and really looking forwards to it.

@Steilhang, @clarky999, + by a good couple of orders of magnitude!
@JezC, errr, don't fall over? Buy Goretex kit or equivalent?
@rjp123, I'm struggling to understand what you are worrying about anyway. As of this morning Chamonix Meteo is only expressing any confidence out to Sunday and theeafter suggests the arrival of Spring. Which is what you'd begin to expect around this time of year. All longer range forecasts are indicatins and nothing more. Plus, anyway, you can't do anything about it, other tyan booking late January/early Feb if you want higher chances of low temperatures.

Yup, even I can carve a turn in that. Nothing better than hooning it on a deserted slope, in an unzipped soft shell, in perfect light....say no more. The thrill of following such snow/sun around the mountain as the day progresses is quite magical.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Unzipped jacket? May as well have a helmet with sunglasses & snowblades to complete the look.
