Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Chamonix Car Parks

Heading to Chamonix in a few weeks and considering renting car to get around the resort for the week. Does anyone know what the average cost per hour or per day of leaving the car in surface car park at any of the main ski areas is?

Also would need to leave car overnight in centre of town when not skiing - are there sufficient spaces in town to be able to do this and what woudl this cost?

Tks

Les Houches, Flegere, Le Tour and Grands Montets are free to park. Brevent has a fee of a few euros, tho' if you're staying in town you would probably just get the bus up there rather than faffing around trying to drive and park.

Free parking by Planards (just the other side of the station) and the free town shuttle stops next to it. Various other side streets etc. where you can stash a car. Some accommodation comes with parking, particularly in Cham Sud.

I'm pretty certain all car parks at the lifts are free, you just need to get there early. Not sure about overnight in town though.

there are free spots to park all over the place but it depends on how busy and where in town your staying as to how easily you'll find one. where abouts are you staying?

@rjp123, you would think, might you not, that either the office of tourism, or indeed the town hall would publish such useful information on one or both of their websites, particularly as both august bodies are very keen to de-clutter the town of those nasty smelly automobiles.

But not that I can find.

This however may be of use http://www.chamonix.net/english/transport/parking

Not all of them any more they're not, I'm afraid. Le Tour, Grands Montets, Flegere (I think), Belvedere, Prarion, yes. Brevent, definitely not. And I think overnight maybe not so easy at any of them..although that's a supposition.

@rjp123, I think you're probably best in Allobroges, although it's outdoors. Don't leave anything valuable or apparently valuable visible in your car... https://www.google.com/maps/search/parking+in+Chamonix,+France/@45.9210692,6.8716581,17z?hl=en

sounds like it might better to use the bus, and even with some taxis it'd still be cheaper than having a car and perhaps less hassle?

We have a chum staying without a car this week, he used the bus for the first time today and was very impressed.
