Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi All
A friend of mine is taking his daughter for a short ski trip to Kitzbuhel on Friday week...13th Feb. They'll have 3 days skiing and he is looking to engage an instructor for two of those days for (say) 2 hours each morning...private lessons.
Any recommendations and contact details would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
(I posted this in Snow Reports but got no response. I can't believe no one has a recommedndatio to make or some advice to impart)

Hiya,
three of us had a good day with Michael of Snowsports in Kitzbuhel. He is the owner of the school and is Austrian so not a native English speaker although his English is very good. It's hard to compare the lessons in France I've had with the one in Austria but I'd say he was better than any ESF lesson I've had, but I think I've had better instruction from TDC in Tignes. Having said that, I'd book another lesson with him again if I ever went back to Kitchbull (doubtfull!)
Hope that helps.

@Kevin Byrne, I've been there several times and it's pointless going with anyone else other than Der Rote Teufel....they're the best.

Thanks @dazman, I think that's who he opted for after recommendation from @jafa,
Great to get a second steer in that direction.
Thanks everyone...

@Kevin Byrne
the lesson cost 300euros and lasted all day, it started 9am and finished about 3:30pm ish. It was a private off piste lesson for 3 of us and we thought it a good deal.

@gixxerniknik,
Yeah, that's not bad for such a long day and between 3.
Going rate for a guide for a day in France is about €350 so I guess that's what you are looking at.
Piste lessons tend to be more expensive by the hour.

@gixxerniknik, I'd be interested to know why it's doubtful you'd revisit Kitzbuhel. Bad experience? I've just booked a short trip there.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

@dzer2,
Daughter is 12 and I think they have pretty much settle for the Rote Teufel...after 3 recommendations. Just a week away so hopefully it will be good.
We've only skied a few days in Kitz - Jan last year - and despite the poor conditions we had a good time. The town seems designed for millionaires but actually it is affordable to eat out etc. We enjoyed it.
Thanks again everyone.
