Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Can any one recomend any decent snowshoes for a teenage boy. Price is not really a big factor. Would be used walking around the ski village

@HanageTo, decathlon (at least in France) sell reasonable snowshoes cheaply. I haven't seen anyone walking round a ski village with snowshoes on. Chains on shoes however are common, mrs jbob uses yak tracks.

We went snowshing for the first time last week, on basic Decathlon shoes. It was great - on an indifferent skiing day, it was much better to get out by ourselves on some of the local tracks. I'm definitely a convert.

Hi, Decathlon certainly sell a range of snowshoes, their own brand plus the biggest French brand TSL. Au Vieux Campeur also sell a large range too. You can get a good TSL pair for c. Euro 100.

The great advantage is that, if you want, you can get off the local tracks and explore where you want in areas away from the ski runs. Just had a great day out with people from Pralognan out just past Prioux and got to see some chamois.

@HanageTo, whatever he normally wears. Most of the seasonnaire kiddies wear skate shoes.

Normal shoes are generally fine but waterproof and good tread is better. I tend to headwear skate shoes and, as long as there isn't too much snowfall they're fine.
