Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Arc 1600 private lessons

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi,
Does anyone have any recommendations for fluent English speaking instructors in Arc 1600 for a couple of private lessons?
Specifically, I tend to go into a "defensive" mode on steep mogul fields, and dont "flow" as I would like - all a load of horrible traverses and crap, accelerating turns
I know the black off of Cachette and Clair Blanc red are precisely the sort of territory I go bad on, and Im staying in Borg, so if I can find an instructor in 1600 it will be ideal.
Thanks in advance

Hi, try New Generation. I was in Arc 1600 last week and had a couple of private lessons with JP from the Arc 2000 office - my lessons were at 11.30am so I just met him at their usual meeting place in Arc 2000 after doing some skiing, but he would have been happy to meet elsewhere - think he said he lives in Bourg himself. My lessons were really good (and from my experience of New Generation elsewhere and from what others have said too, I think they would be generally recommended).

I'm pretty sure that ESF are the only instruction company that base themselves out of 1600. As others have said though, New Gen are good and so long as you don't book a lesson starting very first thing in the morning, it will be relatively easy to rendezvous with them from their regular meeting point or a pre-agreed spot on the mountain.
