Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Carter's in Reading?

I've just got back from Morzine, which was my 5th week skiing - and while I don't necessarily have problem feet or any real issues with hire boots, I do find hiring them a bit of a lottery (they're either excruciatingly tight or feel too loose).

Anyway, I'm off to VT in March so though it might be a good time to finally buy a pair. I'm from Windsor, so Carter's in Reading are the closest boot fitters to me and I just wondered if anyone had any experience of having boots fitted there.

I had boots fitted in December 2012 and was very pleased with the experience - took about an hour and a half and they fitted me in on a Friday morning although I'd not made an appointment. I did have a pretty good idea what I thought I wanted before going (Atomic Hawx 110w) but still tried everything else that was suitable.
My partner has also had a pair of boots fitted (for a fee) which he'd bought cheaply from a friend of a friend who was an equipment rep.
They are a long established business; I first used the long gone tiny dry slope out the back getting on for forty years ago!

Would Snow and Rock in Chertsey not be as close for you as Reading?

@boredsurfin, going up to Bicester is still a very realistic option as it gets such good reviews on here but Reading is only 20mins down the road so I thought I'd canvas a few opinions on Carter's first (just in case if was a hidden gem).

Cheers @Stella for the feedback, that sounds promising.

@Wrekingirl, @ivaylo, no disrespect to S+R or Decathlon as I know people have perfectly good boots fitted there but I'd ideally prefer to go to a Boot Fitters Association shop as they seem to have a better reputation (unless I'm sorely mistaken!)

Im from reading and have taken my Skis to Carters for a service - seemed alright - boot wise I have had 2 pairs fitted in the last 9 years at Ski Bartlett in Uxbridge and they are really good !
the old guy in particular does a cracking job and is very knowledgeable

I got my boots from Carters and honestly I now think they may be too big, but could be wrong, I am inexperienced. I will be making a trip to Solutions4feet at some stage to find out how good we can make my boots for me, or I may get mine looked at by a recommended fitter in London where I work.

I may be being harsh
