ise, Good pic of what looks like a fairly solid cloud layer with another range-Jura? in the distance. The piste is looking a bit firm and corrugated though?. What are the poles to the left in the bottom picture?

Yes, that's the Jura so it's the plateau 3-lac's region in cloud, in fact it's cleared now I've got home. The poles are phones or power I presume for the restaurant.
The piste is firm I guess, as for corrugated, this is "real" skiing, the surface underneath hasn't been pounded into submission using heavy plant so that's the shape of hillside.

Okay, I will call the undulations ripples then. When snow cover is ample I usually don't notice them. I'm keen on "real" skiing as you define it, and much less interested in skiing machine made flat pistes.

snowbunny, funnily enough we were talking about this yesterday. The snow and the conditions are great but it will take a little more snow to lose these "ripples". It makes for some interesting skiing, at speed you start to take air a lot
