Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Is Meribel Altiport a bit, you know, remote?

Hello All,

Just found this brilliant site. We have got the offer of a cheap apartment at the Meribel Altiport in March. Some of the more sociable peope in our group are worried that it is a bit far from the nightlife of Meribel proper. Has anyone stayed there before?

Duvet,
Welcome to snowheads

Someone will be along to give a better answer as I haven't been back for ages.

From memory Meribel is on a steep slope anyway so the top and bottom vertical of the village itself is at least
250 mtrs and probably more if they have built higher than Rond point. Depends where the apre is centred these days.. the bar
at Rond Point was pretty lively but its a long walk down to the centre even if you cut through the slope and not walk around by the road..

There should be better detail along soon

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

If you stay at the altiport area you wont be anywhere near the main nightlife action, there is a reasonable bus service around meribel, here's a link (i hope!) http://www.meribel.net/plan/Navettes_station_horaires_hiver_05_06.pdf

The Rond Point, as mentioned by JT, is lively for an apres ski drink and close to the altiport. Otherwise there are a few good places to eat and drink in the plateau area....

Altiport would be a good location for getting on the slopes early though - go for it i say!!!!
