Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Grandvalira usually copes well in the spring, and Easter isn't particularly late this year.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I have been to Soldeu in early March (not specifically Easter) and whilst they can have plenty of snow, because it can get quite warm, later in the afternoon the lower slopes can be a little slushy (at both Soldeu and El Tarter) This then translates to the lower slopes being slightly icy first thing in the morning.

However the upper bowl at El Tarter and the back areas from Soldeu that run across to Grau Roig (also part of Grand Valira) still had good snow and gave plenty of skiing (including a few good off-piste (next to piste) areas and if you know where they are some natural half pipes (gulleys)

Of course this does depend on the overall snow depths as one season I had to rock hop a bit but then another year we had 2 feet of powder to play in

BTW I haven't been back for a few years so I suspect any snow making equipment may have been optimized (especially as they seem to have Europa Cup races more often) and the first year I was there was before the Grand Valira links opened to Grau Roig and Pas

This was taken mid-day just few days after Eastern 2014 (22nd of April?) in el Tarter

Non groomed runs were basically frozen water in the morning. I do snowboard so in the afternoon I was splashing water all around and having a feeling of riding waves.

However, fun can be had in higher sectors such as Grau-Roig and is around Llac Cubill where I've spent most of my time.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thanks all, decided it probably not the best idea and we have decided to go to Gressoney.

Right, but 22 April is insanely late for Pyrenean skiing, so you can't go expecting winter temperatures. Quite the opposite, the impressive thing about the photo is how much snow there still was there at the mid-station, and how good it was given the temperatures. (I was there wink)

@Pyremaniac, was that an exceptional amount of snow leftby that date or is it generally very snow sure that late into April (I know I have booked for next season but we are stuck with school holidays for a long time to come)
