Poster: A snowHead

I've not got any merino, most of my base layers are Patagonia Capilene. Has anyone tried the Ulvang stuff on Sportpursuit at the moment, I need one more warm base layer for this trip and was thinking of the 50fifty long sleeve base layer. Anyone tried one or any experience of the brand?

Got 2 of the glimt ziped turtle neck. Wish I had bought 4. Comfy & no stink like synthetics.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Don't know Ulvang, but I`m totally converted to merino; even the cheapest stuff is great...warm, no smell. Cheaper it is, the more it seems to pill, and lose it`s shape. I work outside, so use it nearly year round. I looked at the Ulvang on SP, and it looks quite good; if a brand has moved into the thicker mid layers it tends to be quality, and at those prices what have you got to lose ? Can`t beat Icebreaker when it`s on sale, though.

@rogg, It seems they're only 80% merino wool. It really is best to go for 100% superfine IME.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@ALQ, they're double knit, a polyester inner and 80% merino outer knit. The blurb on their site reckons polyester to wick, merino layer to distribute moisture and keep warm. I've ordered one up anyway, so hope they're ok.

Disagree.
Synthetic inner wicks sweat away much quicker and stays dry next to your skin.
