Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Tinkering with my bindings

I've had a pair of Rossi E88's (186) for a few years and have used them on seven trips now. I really like them and chose them as I demoed them (and others) and have got on really well with them ever since. I fitted them with Atomic NEOS bindings which I took off my old set of Blackeyes and mounted them on the marked "centre line" of the ski. I did experiment with the binding position, centre and (10mm) forward but the binding was originally fitted to an Atomic ski so I suppose this adjustment may not be relevant to a Rossi ski, anyway. I have always felt that the boot centre mark of the Rossi's was too far forward and I felt this because there seemed to be too much tail of the ski behind the boot especially compared to other skis I observed and it felt that the tail of the ski was dominating the tip . I think I ski with my weight forward but if I lean back I get more response from the tail of the ski however I then get balance issues. consequently, as the bindings are on a rail, I thought I would tinker with my bindings and move them back a bit so I moved them back 20mm. What a difference, I get more feel from the rear of the ski and I definately feel the side cut forming the turn more than before.

I understand a number of skis now give options for binding position according to ski style but I am wondering if the manufacturers mounting point is
based on a generic position which may not suit all skiers and that bindings should be mounted according to the physique and weight of the individual skier. I am a big bloke so my centre of gravity would differ from others so as a result the manufacturers mounting point could be "off".

I would be interested to hear other peoples views on binding position and if anybody else has tinkered too.
