Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

equipment hire selva val gardena

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi Snowheads

I'm heading off to Selva, Val Gardena for a week next Friday and just getting round to organising ski hire. I was wondering if anybody's had a good experience with a particular hire shop in Selva, Val Gardena they'd recommend?

Thanks

I've hired there the last 2 seasons, first from sci2000(?) through skimium, they're just down the hill from the Ciampinoi bubble/Aaritz hotel and they were pretty good - reasonable range of skis but nothing too fancy (and a bit battered tbh!) but they were happy to swap midweek if you fancied anything different.

Last year I hired through the TO (Esprit) from the shop under the glass bridge (on the corner on the ciampinoi side of the road) don't know what company it was and, according to Google Streetview, the place appears to be a café in summer! Anyway, if you can find out which company it was, they appeared to have a better range of skis (from skinny piste/slalom ones to big fat planks for pow) and some current year's models too.

Both times I was there in 1/2 term i.e. a fairly busy week. If you're there the week after next, I'd imagine you'll be able to pick and choose your equipment wherever you rent it.

In both cases the guys in the shop and service was friendly, quick and helpful so I didn't really think much about it! Tbh I assumed, as is the case in most resorts, that the ski hire is all under the control of one big cartel and it doesn't actually matter which shop you go to as they all come from the same place centrally run by the same people

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

thanks @jma, I'll have a look at those two, I've emailed quite a few of the rental shops in the area looking for a price for 4 people so I'll see what they come back with. Some of their websites are quite vague with regard to the age and the model of skis we might expect for a specific category.

We recommend Olgas, as we have hired from them for several trips and never been disappointed, hired from ski2000 at Xmas, and agree with previous poster about skis being a bit battered, even though we had booked advanced skis, and it was first week of TO season. We have insisted with TO that we go back to Olgas for our February hire.

@reidabook1, Iam just wondering if you did find a good option for ski hire in Selva? We are going to Selva next saturday and we are also looking for a good place to rent skis. Any recommendations?
