Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Soll to Kitzbuhel

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi, first time to the ski welt in a few weeks and was just checking out the ski map and it looks as though you could ski from soll to kitzbuhel via westendorf could anyone confirm if this is possible without bussing it? looking at the map (which isn't the most detailed) you could ski from soll to brixen im thale then ski lift into Westendorf then the runs and lifts appear to travel into kitz...

Could anyone confirm if I got this right and also what sort of time this would take to ski over I was thinking we could get first lift up in the morning and head straight there ski kitz for the day and maybe taxi or bus back to soll...

thanks

Very Happy

I think you still have to get a bus between either Aschau or Skirast (bottom of Pengelstein) to get to the bottom of the KiWest lift up to Westerndorf.

can be done wedid it 2 years ago , I seem to remember some faffing with lift pass , got to the far end of kitz but ran out of time on way home due to weather closing in and had to get a taxi round from brixen westendorf and probably the best way to get the most out of the day is plan to taxi it back from kirchberg otherwise your just yo yoing and wouldn't have time to do much in kitz

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thanks for the replies!

So seems like its possible then may try get up on first lift and ski straight there and taxi it back maybe after a few well earned apres beers!!! As I am typing here I am still searching options looks like there is a train from brixen im thale to kitzbuhel that could be a better option so we could get more skiing done in kitzbuhel haven't skied there since a school holiday in the early 90's so would like to see the place again may take up most of the day just getting there so might it be a better idea skiing to brixen then train? Ski westendorf on another day as I believe the skiing there is great also...

Easily done in a day. You'll need the Kitzbühler Alpenstar (IIRC) ski pass though.

@ryan110398, your idea of train from brixen to kitz is fine but you may find you take longer than skiing it, I would grab a taxi from bottom of brixen or the bus ifits there and go straight to kirchberg and then up, when you decide to come back you could change where you get down to the valley either kirchberg or brixen to taxi home and I think your idea of doing westendorf on a separate day is best then youll have time to ski most of it

@ryan110398, it wouldn't take ages to ski to the bottom of KiWest, so if you are planning on bussing/taxi back then you can get a good few hours skiing Kitzbuhel area. If you just planned to ski all the way there and back it probably wouldn't be worth the extension to the lift pass as you'd only get a few runs before having to heading back.

ski bus and train link Kitz, Kirchberg, Brixen, Westendorf but not brixen to soll. If you ski Soll Brixen then you can either ski over via Westendorf (worth it for the ski over) or bus to Kirchberg. The access to Kitz area from kirchberg goes straight into some great bits of the Kitz area so I wouldn't bother going through to Kitz town. On the way back it is a bit of a faff to ski over Westendorf because you have to go right down low (run 111, it is great but long) to get the Choralp gondola which is the only place you can ski back to Brixen, all the runs from the main Westendorf area end up in Westendorf village which doesn't connect back to Soll.

To do it all without a taxi I would ski out via Westendorf, end up at Kirchberg in time to get the skibus to Brixen and ski back to Soll from there.

Have fun!
