Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Avoriaz 6th to 9th Feb - need accomodation

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Gang of us, 8 people, are hoping to go to Avoriaz from Mon 6th to Thur 9th of Feb but we're struggling to find accomodation that will accept us. We've tried Maeva and Pierre and Vacances but they're only accepting full week bookings starting on a saturday or sunday. Anyone got any ideas ???

Thanks

Broadsword, I hate to say but I'm not too sirprised and I would think you would struggle.

The 4th is the start of the French school holidays (and starts with the worst area which includes Paris). The place (as will many if not most French resorts) will be mobbed and most hotels etc. can happily mandate min 2 week stays let alone 1 week without losing business. Try the hotels but I'm afraid you are running against the tide.

Also, the winter olympics start on the 10th Feb.

Seriously: a sub-optimal time to go to France.

Maybe your best bet is to see if any brit or dutch chalet operators have late minute space? Try the Sunday papers for contacts. Actually, Avoriaz doesn't have that many hotels or chalet operators so you may be in difficulty I think. Hate not to be helpful, sorry.

Broadsword, Sorry, welcome from me too!

Any reason why Avoriaz in particular? You may find Brits/Dutch chalet operators in Morzine, Montriond, Les Gets, St Jean d'Aulps, Chatel, etc. have space if it's the pDS you're after.

English half term breaks seem to start a little later so that might be a help.

Good luck,

DM

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thanks for the welcome and the advice. I knew it was the start of the French half term but we are quite restricted on when we can go due to our work shifts. We wanted Avoriaz because it's close to Geneva airport, we are in Liverpool so it's a quick easy jet flight away. We have actually found a chalet in Morzine or failing that we've found a place in Cham but we went there last year and fancied somewhere different this time.
I might look into going the week earlier, that should give us more accomodation options from what you've said.

Sean
