Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Marco Polo airport

Hi, we are travelling to Arabba in Feb and have 2 queries

Any recommendations for a private taxi for 4 (+skis) from Venice Marco Polo to Arabba. Unfortunately dolomiti ski bus times don't suit for the outward journey.
We are going to visit Venice for a few days after our trip. Does anyone know if there is storage at the airport for skis ?
Thanks for any advice.

@eithnem, Can't answer your first question but there is a left luggage office where you can leave skis. It appears that they charge double for skis over normal sized luggage but some people have said that this isn't consistent and they've only been charged the normal for skis.

I was very annoyed to have been charged for my ski helmet as a separate item - it was tied to the side of my rucksack!

@eithnem, A pity about the dolomiti ski bus not being suitable for you, as it is subsidised by the resort accommodation owners and is good value. However I can recommend Venice Cab for taxi transfers from Marco Polo: http://www.venicecab.com/rates.html . You'll see that their rate to Arabba for 4 to 6 passengers is 210 Euros.

As regards left luggage, yes as others have said it is available (although when I used it skis were treated as oversize bags and I was charged double the rate i.e 12 Euros).

Hope this helps.

Thanks folks - we took the bus last year as it tied in nicely with flights but not this year unfortunately. Bus would mean a 3hr+ wait, arrive late evening and miss dinner at the hotel so I think we are better off with taxi for the outbound journey. I'll check out Venice Cab - €210 seems decent enough. We'll probably get the bus for the return though.

@eithnem, what time are you arriving? I have just got back from a long weekend in Venice and the buses from Marco Polo were every 30mins starting at 07:50 through to 00:20. There was load of spare for baggage underneath the bus.

Have you booked your hotel? The place we stayed in was really convenient for where the bus stops and although basic very cheap and easy to walk from into where some lovely restaurants were.

Sorry just twigged the bus references are about Venice to Arabba not Marco Polo to Venice.

However given the amount of space for baggage under the Bus from the airport to Venice as long as your hotel is close to Piazzale Roma it would be easy enough to keep with you
