Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Driving St Malo to the 3 valleys

Hi Guys

It’s been a few years since I did the trip by road, I used to just skirt under Paris and head down Macon Lyon direction, but Michelin route-planning is sending me down further West towards Chalon and Clement Ferrand.

Is there a new motorway down in that direction? For years I have headed to Paris and turned south…

Anyone done the trip recently?

Many Thanks

I haven't done the route but Google Maps says your original one is the quickest.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

The section of the A28 between Alencon - Tours was opened a couple of years ago (can't remember when), so this makes it easier to head south and no requirement to head towards Paris. I drove to the Vendee from the Calais/Rouen stretch a few years back and found this road to be as good as the normal French Autoroutes.

Thanks for your help, that makes sense now and explains why Google shows both options although I notice that the show the Northern route marginally quicker.

I like to stay in Beune on the way back, but I think I will head South on the way there, sort of makes sense.

I usually stop over after around 5 hours, I may see if Clermont Ferrand is an option.

Thanks again
