Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Cheeky Mayrhofen Challenge

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
(this kind of spurs off from a previous thread of mine).

Going to Mayrhofen on Saturday 3/1/15, and having spent an hour at Hemel Hempstead I'm very much back to being a beginner ('like a new born Giraffe' someone described me). So, how would you fill your time and get better if you were in my boots?

Where would you go in the Zillertal:

Sunday to Friday 10am > 12noon, and 13.30 > 16.00ish

(just interesting to see what people would do, and helpful for a newbe like me)

@marodo2712, Sorted Laughing

I believe the Ahorn is great although I never ventured there on my weekend there (I know, I know but I was outvoted). My group headed straight up Penken. There's plenty of not too difficult runs to get your legs back in .

The ahorn is great for getting your legs in. I first skied in Mayrhofen and the wide blues on ahorn are great for building confidence.

On the Penken, I particularly enjoy what is now Blue 29 a nice tree run with a couple of challenging turns and joins up with the far valley.

I hope this helps

Another vote for Ahorn. Quiet and not on a route between areas and with wide open spaces.

Monday. Am: Bed. Pm: Penken blues 28 & 29 repeatedly. Time for a one to one lesson as I freeze every time I see anything steeper than Hemel Hempstead.

@marodo2712, As I mentioned above, I love blues 28 + 29. When you get to the bottom of 29 there's two lift stations next to each other. The one furthest away takes you to a decent, wide blue which is good for getting some practice in and brings you back to the lift again if you want to get a number of runs in, in quick succession. I found it very useful for getting my feet back in!

Am: Bed (pattern emerging, I'm a noonski). Pm: 28, 29 a few times, then the 14 as recommended by Daleybou, lovely slope, a bit hairy to start. 2 hour private lesson tomorrow, the up to the raskogel on Thursday hopefully.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Am: Bed. Pm: Lesson, then 28 again. Realizing I have no talent. Another lesson tomorrow then time to make decisions - board perhaps.

 You know it makes sense.

Second lesson made the difference, did rastkogel blues today (cloudy so zero definition) - loved it, then did 14 twice with no problems, and 29 (which is like the m25) without stopping to think - happy man, and even happier after 4 beers and a jaegerbomb by 5.
