Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Full Week Ski Courses in France??

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi guys,

I'm looking for a company that offers a full weeks worth of ski coaching in France, by that I mean a 5 full days (not 5 mornings or afternoons)

In particular I'd be looking for an intermediate level class (I've only done 2 days but I'm already pretty happy in parallel - I have a large snowboarding background which has probably helped!)

This is quite a popular thing in snowboarding but so far I've only found Warren Smith Ski Academy but they only run in Verbier (way out of my budget)

Any suggestions welcome Smile

Thanks!

David

PS. I've used ESF before but they're extremely hit or miss, either you get a group of 6 with very good instruction or a group of 20+ with little to no instruction, I'd be looking for a group of around 6 max!

Check out UCPA centres. Lots of different levels for week long course programs.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Try skivo2.co.uk based in Courchevel Le Praz. They do performance weeks during off peak times, which are all day 5 days in the week. Been with them for last 15 or so seasons. They also do pre season weeks in Kaprun. No commercial link, just a satisfied customer. Ask to speak to Dave Beattie, the owner or Tracey in the office.

Fantastic effort.

Don't forget to tie the uphill and downhill ropes up on the support wheels. Snow forecast Friday/ Saturday and you may wish to avoid lots of digging!

BTW. Have Hardwood passed on their rope clips and seatbelt harnesses for gripping the haul rope ?

@david2189, Can fully recommend Snoworks. Doing another course with them in February. Some of the courses are full days such as the backcountry and safaris. Off piste, all terrain, moguls are half days either morning or afternoon. I did the All Terrain course which was essentially all off piste as the snow was good.

Plenty of solo skiers and the social scene is good. If you opted for the half day courses you'd have no problem hooking up with people of a similar ability to ski with. I'm doing a Backcountry course with them in Gressoney which is 5 full days with a mixture of guides and instructors.

High quality tuition in a relaxed atmosphere. Have a look.

Don't think I fully read your post on the phone earlier..... Snoworks have a minimum standard for their courses in this case the entry level is Level 3 'You can ski all the Blues and Reds providing the terrain is pisted, with good visibility and good snow'.

Being classified as an intermediate are quite muddy waters i.e. it's a very broad range. I'd say the above is equivalent to the Inside Out Scale of between5 and 6 I'd say:

It depends who's on the course, but the step up in the sort of terrain you do from one group to another is quite large IME. Then again the difference in some people can be more to do with lack of confidence than technique. There were far better skiers than me both in my group and the group below but I've never been scared of having a go!

@david2189, +1 for Snoworks . Go for a course that runs in the mornings , then go out and practice in the afternoons with your fellow devotees Happy
