Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Reasonable Shell Jacket

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
My fairly cheap TOG24 shell jacket has done excellent service over the last 4 years and now in need of a new one and horrified by lots of the £300+ prices.

Found the Dare2b Encircle - http://www.en.dare2b.com/encircle-jacket-fiery-red.html
Any ideas/thoughts/suggestions?

I just buy good jackets on sale at minimum 40-50% off. Try Sportpursuit for instance, or Sail and Ski who usually have a sale (http://www.sailandski.co.uk/acatalog/Jackets-p1.html) . I never paid more than 200 GBP for a jacket, and I've paid quite a bit less for very technical ones.

You could also look at Nevica (as worn by Mr Bell) from http://www.sportsdirect.com/nevica.

There's a big Gore-Tex sale on at Sport Pursuit at the moment. What's your budget like?

Sorry to hijack the thread in a way, but is there any where that sells Goretex Pro at a mortals price?

I suspect that Gore has worked quite hard this season to make sure that there isn't. You're probably out of luck til the spring, at the earliest.

Given that sportpursuit has some very reasonably priced pro shell jackets, why not go for that instead? The newer fabric isn't the be-all and end-all of shell materials, and the old fabric is still one of the best.

I suspect you're right. Might try to pick up a "bargain" or two in spring. Hmm youre right about SportsPursuit having some good deals.

LOADS of places - but only from end of May through September.

Keep your current jacket for this winter and go shopping in the end of season sales. It's the only time to buy ski stuff (apart from SportPursuit deals).
