Could anyone tell me which airport is the most convenient for getting a transfer to Courcheval from.

Easy - the Aliport at Courchevel itself, 5 mins from the centre of the resort. But seriously for mere mortals with normal depth pockets it's Chambery - 1 1/2 - 2hr transfer, Lyon is another 1hr away and Geneva about 3hrs as well. Hope this helps.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Markw, It's true Chambery is the closest, but it has a dodgy record on weather. I would therefore go for Grenoble. Geneva has been the standard for many years but the transfer can be a nightmare 4 hours plus or longer if the weather is bad or over the busy holiday period.
Personally for me I have had enough of lousy airports and stress riden transfers and for near Europe ski-ing I'll self drive every time!!

train to bourg is pretty good - else grenoble I would think. i've done it from lyon as well which wasn't that bad as long as there are a few of you to split the cost. aj xx
